Before joining the Department of Economics at Benedictine College, Dr. Jad Ziolkowska was teaching and conducting research at the University of Oklahoma, University of Texas at Austin, University of California at Berkeley, and the Humboldt University of Berlin. Her research interests include environmental economics, Catholic Social Teaching, water-energy-food nexus and its relation to the Catholic faith, sustainability, optimization and decision making, environmental assessment, and natural resource management.
Dr. Ziolkowska has published articles and books about environmental protection, conservation, and efficient resource use. Recently she has expanded her research areas to analyze the Eucharistic miracles as archived by Bl. Carlo Acutis as well as the impacts of technological developments in agricultural and food production on Christian trust, faith and love for God. Currently she is working to develop an Experience Learning Index to improve students’ knowledge retention, and on a holistic system of growing in trust in Jesus Christ.
Dr. Jad is a Benedictine Oblate and consecrated to Christ as a Consecrated Virgin in the Catholic Church. She enjoys nature, reading, biking and hiking.
